Welcome
to Phil Vasili's 'The History of Black Footballers' web site. This is a
non-profit-making web site intended as a resource for people interested in the
subject.
All the information you need to know about the exhibition which is currently touring the UK is in the section of the same name. In the Illustrations section, you will find a number of rare downloadable photographs.
In 'Books' you will find information and excerpts from 'First Black Footballer...', 'Colouring Over the White Line...' and a novel in progress 'Felt and Batten' .
In 'Screenplays' you will be able to download excerpts from 'Gold Coast Showman' co-written with Irvine Welsh, a dramatisation of the life of Arthur Wharton the world's first Black footballer; Tull, dramatising the football and military career of Walter Daniel Tull, the first Black combat officer in the British army; and Felt and Batten a black comedy, set in Cambridge, featuring roofer Billy French and Ogoni refugee Danny Balogun.
